Behind again!
Well I am behind again! I’m not exactly sure what happened to summer…it was just whisked away! At the start of break I entered an independent book contest, which I am quite excited about! I can’t imagine reading through so many submissions, but it looks like mine hasn’t been ruled out quite yet…perhaps because they have not made it mine yet X), so here is hoping! We hit upstate NY for a week and had lovely adventures and are back home to some happy dogs. And hopefully soon to be happy chickens, as my husband has graciously acquiesced to a small backyard coop, which we have begun building. I wish…

Finally a post!
Goodness am I behind! Summer is a month over and I am just finally making a post. I have managed to complete no creative narrative writing the past month, but, thankfully, have finally finished my lesson plans for a complete novel unit on Lois Lowry’s The Giver! If you happen to need any quality, start to finish lesson plans, I have a whole unit of 57 lessons available on my Teacher’s Pay Teachers store, Reading the Rapids! If you need bits and pieces, or just want to add some new materials, the full unit is also available broken down into small bundles, such as activities, vocabulary and chapter by chapter…

My First Student Reader! <3
On Friday I went into my coworker’s classroom to borrow a laptop, and she had a straggling student in her room. This isn’t new. I’ve often seen him in her room chatting after third period whenever I’ve popped in for something at the start of fourth planning. But when I walked in on Friday, I noticed that my book was in from of him. I waited at the back of the room so I wouldn’t interrupt and when my coworker saw me she said, And now you can meet the author! She explained that he’d been asking about my book, which had been sitting on her desk for a couple of weeks, and kept wanting…

Stanza one…
I really like sharks and alligators–a true native Floridan! 🐊🦈🥰🌴 I had an odd dream the other night about being on a small boat with a puppy, and sharks were jumping out of the water to try and nab my puppy! My husband was rowing to get us to safety, and I don’t recall how the dream ended, but it was such a bizarre thing that I thought it would be fun to turn it into something a little more. So I’ve started a ballad about a shark dream. It’s a work in progress, but the first stanza is with this post. 😂🦈
